Why this company exists

Most people who need $500 quickly are not choosing between good options. They are choosing between a payday loan due in full in two weeks, a credit card they have already maxed, an overdraft that compounds, and asking family. True Link Finance was built for that moment, with one product that behaves predictably: a fixed amount, a fixed payment, and a date the debt ends.

We lend between $200 and $5,000 over 3 to 24 months. We do not offer lines of credit, we do not roll loans over, and we do not sell a second product to someone who is struggling with the first one.

What we actually do

We are a consumer installment lender. When you check your rate, we run a soft credit inquiry and look at your income, your existing obligations, and your payment history. If we can offer you a loan, you see the APR, the monthly payment, the due dates, and the total repayment before you sign anything. If we cannot, we tell you the specific reasons in writing, as the Equal Credit Opportunity Act requires.

  • Amounts: $200 to $5,000, within the limits your state sets
  • Terms: 3 to 24 months of equal monthly payments
  • Fees: no origination fee, no application fee, no prepayment penalty
  • Reporting: on-time payments are reported to the major credit bureaus

Every figure published on this site is sample pricing until replaced with our current approved rates. See rates and fees for the full schedule and worked cost examples at each amount.

The principles we hold to

Nobody should be surprised by their own loan

The number in the offer is the number that gets drafted. If a fee can ever apply, it appears on the rates page, on the calculator, and in the agreement, in the same words each time.

Affordability comes before approval

Approving someone for a payment they cannot make is not a service. Our underwriting tests whether the payment fits alongside existing obligations, not just whether the debt can be collected. Our responsible lending policy sets out what that means in practice, including who we decline.

The exit matters more than the entry

A loan is good if it ends. There is no prepayment penalty, paying early genuinely reduces the interest, and we would rather move a due date once than watch someone default.

We say when borrowing is the wrong answer

Hardship plans from the original biller, utility assistance through LIHEAP or 211, and credit union payday alternative loans are often cheaper than anything we offer. We point to them because a customer who did not need to borrow is not a lost sale.

How we are regulated

Loans are made by , NMLS ID , licensed as a consumer lender in every state where we operate. State law, not us, sets the maximum amounts, rates, and terms available where you live. You can verify our licences on the licences page and check the limits in your state on the state lending limits page.

We follow the Equal Credit Opportunity Act in credit decisions, the Truth in Lending Act in disclosures, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in servicing, and the Military Lending Act for covered borrowers and their dependents.

How we make money, in one paragraph

We earn interest on the loans we fund. We do not charge origination or application fees, we do not sell your personal information, and we do not pay for reviews or accept payment to rank a product higher. The full explanation is on how we make money.

Who we cannot help

We are honest about the edges of the product. If you need more than $5,000, need it secured against an asset, or live in a state we are not licensed in, we are not the right lender. If you are taking a new loan to make payments on an existing one, borrowing again will make things worse, and a nonprofit counsellor through the NFCC at nfcc.org will cost you less than we will.
